Daniel Ernst - Principal

Daniel Ernst founded Promethean Homes, LLC in 2012, with the design and construction of the Passive Bauernhaus. This 'proof of concept' structure is the first of its kind in the Shenandoah Valley, designed and built to the Passive House standard.
He believes that the modern American house exhibits 'design deficiency', that good residential design cannot be blinkered, but must view the house as a system. The design/build model provides the answer to this problem---its integrated approach calling back to the very roots of the building profession (arkhitekton: master builder).
Daniel holds a B.A. in English from College of the Ozarks, and while he has worked in and out of residential construction since his teenage years, his resume reflects the kind of diversity that he hopes to establish on his farm in Steeles Tavern. His CV includes such pursuits as custom cabinet making and a timber framing apprenticeship, to manufacturing manager and acting financial controller at Merck and L'Oreal.
